Christian Education at Nativity
Following are Sunday Morning Opportunities (SMO) at Nativity:
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:
Children age 3 through kindergarten will use a series "Learning to Love God" using sensory experiences through hands-on activities in centers, worship songs, singing games, and books and pictures to look at and talk about. TOP
Young Children (grades 1 - 4):
Children in the 1st. through 4th. grade will explore prayer, worship and the Apostles Creed. Stories, videos, songs, games, and snack will allow the children to enjoy learning. TOP
First Communion (2nd. grade):
First communion is offered to all children in 2nd. grade. This group will complete a 3 week course each Sunday morning in the month of October from 9:15 to 10:15am on the sacraments and their Biblical heritage. These children will receive their first communion on Maundy Thursday (20 March 2008). TOP
Pre-Teens: (grades 5 &6)
Pre-Teens will explore the theme, "What God Says About Me", and establish their identity in Christ so each one can begin to understand how to live free in Christ. Three key concepts that will be reinforced are, I am accepted in Jesus, I am safe in Jesus, and I am important in Jesus. TOP
Pre-Confirmation (grade 7):
Pre-Confirmation will explore the Bible in detail. Class time, Church services, visits to other faith worship services, and other requirements are necessary to complete prior to entering confirmation. TOP
Confirmation (grade 8):
The Confirmation group will be led by the Pastor. Confirmation is offered to all youth in eighth grade who have completed pre-confirmation. This ministry is designed to prepare these youth to be able to affirm Christian faith as their own and to begin to sense their own walk as life followers of Jesus Christ. This group will complete a full year course Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15am on Lutheran theology and practices with special emphases on their responsibility and commitment to the church and God. They will have to complete service to the church and community, along with visits to other religious worship experiences. There are 2 retreats, one in the fall and one in the spring youth must attend. The rite of Confirmation takes place on Pentecost. TOP
After Confirmation Teens (A.C.T.) (grades 9-12)
The After Confirmation Teens meet in the Nativity annex and choose self directed activities to share with each other as young confirmed Christians. This age group will also have periodic off-site activities and are encouraged to teach the younger children or attend adult group forums. TOP
Youth Groups:
Youth groups events are available for all youth. Events consist of fun activities, outreach programs, service projects and fellowship/team building. Sign up sheets are located on the "Youth" bulletin board by the Fellowship Hall.
Youth Sunday, a youth participation worship service, is offered in the beginning of the year at both services. TOP
Young and Seasoned Adults:
Using various speakers, discussions and videos, this group will explore various spiritual areas of interest. TOP
Following are Other Educational Activates at Nativity:
Child Development Center
(CDC): Director, Alyssa Solt
A private academic preschool and state licensed daycare for children ages
three through eleven. Our center is a non profit Christian child care
center focusing on providing quality educational experiences and nurturing daily
care in a secure, loving, Christian environment. Our service day is from
7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Preschool programs are offered
for three, four, and five year olds. These programs are held from 9:00 to
11:30am. Extended services are provided for preschool children during our
preschool term (September to May). From September to June we offer before
and after school care. Bus transportation is provided by local elementary
schools. During the summer months a full-day / full-week Summer Fun
program is available for children ages three to twelve. Call 610

An interdenominational Christian program which provides the framework where youth and adults with developmental disabilities can interact with a buddy (a non-disabled youth or adult partner of the same gender and approximate age) and to develop friendships.
